This originates from a strict upbringing with punishments, emotionally and or physically. He has the feeling that he cannot be himself and he has no right to exist. He will be only accepted and appreciated when he adheres to the norms.
The state can also arise in children were the parents have split up. The child has lost the family home and feels split between two households. They are not doing well, have school problems, and the school results are going down. They can have eating disorders, bulimia and anorexia. Everyone tries to help them, but often in vain. It can also be that the parents are too busy with their own problems, and that hey are not listening to the children. When there are problems with their children, they bring them to a doctor, projecting their problems onto their children. They feel neglected as a child.
It can also be that the parents are overprotecting, from fear and not from love. Parents who do everything for their children, except what they need. They are always busy with their own thing, job, household, fight.
Later in life the state can arise from losses, like a man who has lost his land. Hew retreats in his own home, becomes filthy, does not clean himself or his house, and is abusing alcohol and tobacco. He goes to pubs, telling stories.
