Case by Jan Scholten.
Boy, 6 years old, Asperger’s.A six-year-old boy has been diagnosed with autism and Asperger's. The problems started after the first vaccination with BCG and hepatitis B: for a month, he screamed at night. He started lifting his head late. In the sixth month, he still did not respond to his name and paid no attention to people. He was more interested in objects like the phone and watches. He is hypersensitive and aggressive to noise, and cannot bear music or the crying of children. He is very picky with food. He talking constanly.
His pregnancy was perfect, by the book. The birth was a few days late, but that was not a problem. The amniotic fluid was clear. His mother did not have much breast milk.
Hair analysis showed poisoning with heavy metals such as aluminium, mercury and lead. Other tests showed strain from the many vaccinations. He had a diet that omitted sugar and vegetables. This made him make more eye contact and notice more people. He also had diarrhoea less often.
Now he is still very stubborn and he cannot concentrate well. He is restless and is always running around. He cannot sit still for even a minute.
He communicates very little. He still makes little contact and has little attention. He is not interested in people nor does he imitate others. He can be very aggressive and can then hit other children and also his teachers. He dislikes school and the rules there. He also does not participate in group activities. In general, he hates birthday parties and the like. He has no friends and does not look forward to them either. His teacher says he is trapped in a surreal, perfect world.
He always wants to be the best and win. He absolutely cannot stand losing, then he gets incredibly angry.
At home, he is more at ease. Lately, he has had more contact with his parents and grandparents, and cuddles with them a lot.
He speaks reasonably well, but can sometimes mix up words or put verbs in the wrong place. He can read and write well. He has a very good memory especially for data and dates.
Everything has to go according to his rules. Taking a bath has to be at 8:00 am every day. He hates changes. He can take good care of himself getting dressed and brushing his teeth.
He is afraid of clouds, then he thinks something will happen; in the morning he always looks for clouds.
He is almost insensitive to pain.He dislikes drawing and painting.
His preferred colour is black.
Sleep: he cannot sleep alone; he falls asleep in his parents' bed; at night he often comes to his parents’ bed.
Preferences: sweet, apple, banana.
Aversion: fruit.
