IntroductionIn the Apg classification Xyridaceae is a Family in Poales, close to Eriocaulaceae.
In the Plant theory it is combined with Eriocaulaceae in Commelinales, Subphase 2.
This is in accordance with older classifications like the Cronquist classifications of 1981. The Wettstein classifications placed the family in order Enantioblastae, an Order with Families Commelinaceae, Mayacaceae, Xyridaceae, Eriocaulaceae, Centrolepidaceae, Restionaceae.
Botany: tropical and subtropical.
