Region: Hainan, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam.
Habitat: thickets, mountainous.
BotanySmall shrubs to trees; 3 to 6 to 27 m tall.
Stem: branches are greyish-white to brownish grey.
Leaves: 12 to 20 cm long; with petiole and rachis adaxially flat, abaxially rounded; leaflets 3 or 5, sub-opposite or opposites; petioles 3 to 5 mm; thin elliptic to oblong-lanceolate; 6 to 10 cm long by 2 to 4 cm wide; coriaceous, both surfaces glabrous and glossy.
Flowers: female are sessile, globose, 2–3 mm in diameter, axillary in the apical part of the branches, in spikes; rachis thin, finely grooved, with scattered flowers.
Fruit: berry; ± 2 cm long, 12 mmm wide; pubescent brown outside, with 1 or 2 seeds.
