Lycopodioideae. Other sources sink it into Lycopodium.
It was first described as Lycopodium densum, a name already used and thus illegitimate. In 1944 the species in the genus Lepidotis as Lepidotis densa. In 1983 the species in his genus Pseudolycopodium.
