Root: rhizome growing at or below the ground.
Leaves: twice compound; rachis with wing connecting all leaflets except the two lowest leaflets, which are angled downward; upper pinnae are more fused to create a long-tapering frond tip; leaf stalk with scales and hairs; veins go to the edge of the leaf blade; 4 to 30 cm long.
