TaxonomyMutsieae is a Tribe of the Subfamily Cichoroideae of Asteraceae. Old Subfamilies like Gochnatioideae, Hecastocleidoideae, Pertyoideae, Stifftioideae and Wunderlichioideae have been included in Mutsieae.
Barnadesioideae is a subfamily of the Asteraceae, with 9 genera and 93 species, endemic to South America, with a basal position in Asteraceae. It has been placed in the past in Carduoideae.
In the Plant theory Mutsioideae is placed in Subphase 1, together with the Subfamily Barnadesoideae.
