Habitat: Miombo woodland, wooded grassland and submontane grasslands, on rocky hillsides or grassy plains, in doleritic or sandy soils; stony grasslands, hillsides or flat grassland and in savannah; summer rainfall areas; elevation from 165 to 2,075 metres; sunny position; well-drained soil; watered regularly in summer.
Use: medicinal.
Botany
Decumbent spreading perennial plant; variable, in habit, leaf shape and size.
Stem: annual, aerial, 5 to 60 cm long, from woody, subterranean stems 2 - 18 cm long.
