Habitat: prefers moist, humus-rich, free-draining soil, partly shady; streambanks, wet meadows, damp thickets, wet cliffs; from foothills to high elevations in the mountains.
Use: flowers, raw and leaves, raw or cooked, as food.

Stem: branched; 50 to 80 cm high.
Leaves: grey-green or blue-green; oval, greyish leaves; hairy.
Inflorescence: terminal.
Flowers: nodding; blue, violet-blue; tubular or narrowly bell-shaped, funnel-shaped; 2 cm long; flowering from May to July.
