TaxonomyMagnolianae is the second Class of the
Angiospermae. It is not treated as such in the
Apg3 classification. It consists of all the “primitive”
Angiospermae, with the exception of the
Amborellales. Put otherwise, it consists of all
Angiospermae except the
Monocots and
Eudicots.
The
Magnolianae are polyphyletic. This is common in the earlier diverging lineages, as the later development evolved out of them, but is not included in
Magnolianae.
Magnolianae have a lot in common, especially that they are not far developed.
