leaves: fertile and infertile fronds are similar; two different morphologies, related to habitat; Jamesonia type have short, often leathery pinnae, associated with exposed habitats; Eriosorus-type have fewer fronds with longer, thinner pinnae, associated with sheltered areas, including cloud forests; stalks are dark brown, usually grooved on the upper, adaxial surface.
Sori: occur along the veins of the segments; sometimes spread more widely on the lower, abaxial,surface of the frond.
