The IodatumsFoodThe first characteristic trait of the Iodatums has to do with food. They have a great desire for food, and in spite of eating a lot they have a tendency to lose weight.
In a proving of
Iodum, conducted by Sankaran (seminar Noordwijk), the provers were dreaming that they did not get anything to eat, that all the food had been eaten before they arrived.
Working, busy, restless, freedom of movement. The second characteristic is that they are restless, they continually want to be doing something. They are active, busy and excited. They are impulsive and they think and talk quickly, and not only quickly but also a lot.
They want to be able to move and can’t tolerate being held back. The feeling of not being able to get away makes them panic.
Iodum even has the symptom 'impulse to kill, when being held'.
ForgetfulA third characteristic symptom is their forgetfulness, as described by Vithoulkas (1991 b, page 50). They are so busy and they have so much on their mind that they can’t keep up with it. They are inclined to write everything down on little notes, but even then they keep forgetting certain things.
ObsessionTheir fear of forgetting things might become an obsession. This may lead to compulsive behaviour, all because they want to be able to keep everything under control. This results in fixed ideas: ‘I have to do this, and I must do that’.
The right of existenceA central theme appears to be the right to exist. Connected to this is the right to eat and the right to work. They need their daily bread and in order to get this they must work, they must be busy.
EscapeMany of the above-mentioned themes are characteristic of the situation of refugees. They have been driven from hearth and home, either by war, famine or natural disasters. Their existence is threatened and all their possessions are lost. They don’t know how to get their daily bread. Their flight is often a hasty escape, they have to get away as far as possible and as quickly as possible.
