Habitat: forests in hilly regions; elevations from 200 - 1,300 metres; open areas in hill evergreen forest.
Use: wood for fuel, general interior carpentry; seed oil for illumination; medicine; pioneer species in reforestation.
BotanySemideciduous tree; 5 - 10 metres tall; grows fast; produce dense, weed-suppressing crowns; attracts seed-dispersing wildlife, birds and bats.
Stem: wood is rather soft.
