English: Confetti bush; Buchu; Diosma; Breath of heaven.
Region: South Africa; naturalised in Victoria, Australia.
BotanyShrub, woody, evergreen, dense, erect; 0.8 and 1.6 metres high.
Stem: single at the base, from where numerous thin and erect branches grow.
Leaves: aromatic; like needles; 8 to 10 mmlong, wide 0.8 mm wide; petiole 1 mm long.
Flowers: solitary; terminal in short axillary twigs or in small twigs; dense towards the top of the branches; pink, often white; star-shaped; 7 to 8 mm in diameter; 5 oval petals, 5 to 6 mm long, each with a distinctive central vein; flowers ab=undantly from May to October.
Pollination: by bees, butterflies, insects.
Fruit: 5 chamber capsule, dotted with glands; shiny black seed in each chamber.
