Clades: Cheilanthoideae; Pteridaceae.

BotanyFern; small; pteridaceous, rock fern.
Leaves: hairy, upper side short and sharp, lower side straight or curled; stipes are hairy, with some scales; scales on the bottoms of the fronds.
Sori: unprotected, gymnogrammoid; aligned along veins on the undersides of the leaves.
Chromosome number: 2n=60 (n=30).
TaxonomyGenetic reasearch has shown that Bommeria is the second branch in Cheilanthoideae. Formerly is was thought to b closely allied with Hemionitis. Bommeria is anatural, monophyletic genus.
