IntroductionClades: Azollidae; Equisetanae; Pteridophyta; Plants.
Members: 1 Family Azollaceae; 1 Genus: Azolla.
TaxonomyAquatic plants have been difficult to classify, due to their reduced form and reduced DNA. They lack differentiating qualities. In the past, aquatic ferns were placed in a family Hydropteridaceae, which means water ferns.
In the PPG1 classification Azolla is included in the family Salviniaceae, in the order Salviniales.
Plant theoryFrom the point of view of the Plant theory aquatic plants have a connection to the Hydrogen series, where only one possibility is available. Splitting the Salviniales fits the structure and the homeopathic picture fit better.
Azollales is the only member of the Subclass Azollidae and class Equisetanae. It has only one member Azollaceae, placed in Phase 1. This is the common situation in the Hydrogen series.
