TaxonomyIn the Apg3 classification Tofieldiaceae is the second diverging clade in Alismatales, after the Araceae. In earlier classifications its genera had usually been assigned to Nartheciaceae, Liliaceae or Melanthiaceae.
Tofieldiaceae are placed in Subphase 7 in the Plant theory.
