Region: Southeast Asia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines.Habitat: tropical and subtropical; lowland to montane forests; in humid and shaded environments; on rocks or terrestrial; moist, well-drained soils; prefers shaded or partially shaded conditions; in forests with high humidity.
Ecology: creating microhabitats for small organisms; stabilizes tree trunks; traditional medicine.
Use: ornamental, for its simple and elegant leaves, in hanging displays or mounted on wood.
BotanyFern; medium-sized; epiphytic or lithophytic; spreading or creeping growth.
Rhizome: creeping; slender; covered with brown, lance-shaped scales.
Leaves: 20 to 50 cm in long; simple; undivided; leathery; lanceolate; tapering at the base and tip; dark green; glossy on the upper surface, paler underside.
