Habitat: high arctic; moist places; on gravel or in moss carpets.

Stems: single, erect and leafy; 3 to 10 cm tall; more or less red.
Leaves: basal leaves in a dense rosette from which long, filiform runners radiate ending in a small, rooting offset; wirth glandular hairs on the margins.
Inflorescence: one, sometimes 2, terminal flower at each stem.
Flowers: golden yellow petals, much longer than the calyx lobes.
