Boy, 7, bronchitis.
He has a cold with a continuos dry, short cough, causing pain in his throat. The cough is worse running, playing football, it is not influenced by open air, better outside, starting on entering the house, worse on lying down in bed, worse talking, better lying on his left side. Only little mucous is produced during the cough or when blowing his nose. He is weak until 3 am.
He had many infections in his first years: purulent nose discharges, several pneumonia’s in the right central lobe. After a while he became asthmatic. When he was younger he coughed much and the only thing that helped a bit was to sit up. He lacks IgG and had antibiotics for four years and extra vaccinations for Haemophilus and Pneumococcus. One year ago the antibiotics were stopped and immediately he developed severe sinusitis and the specialist treated him with a sinus wash. He started continuous antibiotics again until three weeks ago. He still uses inhalation medication.
He also has a stricture of the urethra. The implantation of the ureter is not right. At the age of five he had the first symptoms: cystitis and incontinence. He had a hardened bladder. If he had not had antibiotics for his respiratory tract he would have needed them for his cystitis. Every 3 months the stricture of the urethra has to be dilated and this will continue for the rest of his life.
All the complaints aggravated after the divorce of his parents; three weeks after his father left the house the serious infections started.
His father is discontented, very whimsical, scolds heavily and strikes him and his elder brothers very hard for minor things. He threatens to stop his care when they do not want to come for their visit. This boy does not tell about these things, his older brothers try to reason with their father, are sometimes highly diplomatic, sometimes react against his injustice and frequently receive a fierce strike for that.
His mother tried to get help in many ways but in vain; the father has a very friendly appearance for outsiders.
He is always sunny, optimistic, stable and wise. He is in front of the mirror frequently, does his hair, wants nice clothes “out of insecurity” according to the mother.
He is defiant, his mouth and respiration are tense in stubborn way.
He is intelligent and at school he is bored because everything is easy. He works quickly but not neat at all, creates messy work. His eye-hand coordination is not good: his eyes follow moving objects improperly. His teacher is triggered by his work and his obstinate character and gives him a hard time.
Desire: French fries with mayonnaise; spinach; cola; fruit.
Aversion: Brussels sprouts.
AnalysisPolygonaceae: like Rumex; constriction neck of bladder; retention of urine.
Rumex: kind of cough, << entering the house, < talking, < running. What did not fit was the fact that lying on the left ameliorated.
Follow upAfter Polygonum punctatum he caught a cold and cough. Gradually the stricture in the urethra has improved greatly, dilatation became easy and was needed less and less. He is very stable, very healthy, has only minor infections. He can run and bicycle much better and longer, eats much more, works and writes more neatly, plays more with children and the relation with his teacher has improved.
After Rumex was given first, his cough continued unchanged and he got an ear inflammation, sinus problems and lost weight.
