Mumio means protecting body against diseases, body preserving.
Region: Asia, high mountains, Himalaya, Tibet, Caucasus, Altai, Gilgit Baltistan Pakistan.
Habitat: in caves, rock fissures, on walls and ceilings of caves, in rifts as dropstones or small stalactites; hardly accessible; at altitudes above 3000 meters.
Color: white to dark brown, to black.
Lustre: shiny.
Hardness: thick, sticky tar-like substance; similar to asphalt.
Taste: bitter.
Content: natural mix of organic and inorganic substances; 26 to 85 minerals; triterpenes; humic acids; 10 metallic oxides, 6 amino-acids, steroids, phospholipids, range of vitamins, ethereal oils; biologically active substances.
Use: Ayurveda.
