Central motivationMotivationCrucial in a case is what drives the person, or better said, his personalities. The decisions a person takes in life are an expression of those personalities and give his life its typical quality. The life story is thus of the utmost importance for a case, often showing the remedy in a very direct way.
Central delusionThe central motivation is directly linked to the central delusion and fear. The need and desire is an expression of the central delusion that there is some need. The central fear is the fear of not getting one’s needs fulfilled.
Case takingThe central motivation can be used very nicely in case taking. In the story of the patient there are many moments in his life where he has taken a certain path. There the motivation of the personalities can be found. The question of “why” leads to the drive of the personality. Case taking then becomes a journey, a discovery and unfolding of the life of the patient.
