TaxonomyMimulus was traditionally placed in Scrophulariaceae, containing 150 species. Mimulus now contains only seven species, 2 ineastern North America and 5 in Asia, Australia, Africa and Madagascar.
11 were placed in Erythranthe, 46 in Diplacus, 2 in Uvedalia, 1 each in Elacholoma, Mimetanthe, and Thyridia.
