Habitat: canopy tree in rainforests; semi-deciduous mesophyll to notophyll vine forests, generally on alluvium; elevations from sea level to 200 metres.
Content: sesquiterpenic oil, beta-caryophyllene, caryophyllene oxide.
Use: wood for lances; essential oil is contained in the leaves.
