English: Inundated club moss; Marsh clubmoss; Northern bog club moss.
Region: circumpolar, circumboreal; northern Northern Hemisphere, Arctic to montane temperate regions in Eurasia and North America.
Habitat: wet, bogs, ponds, moist spots on the tundra, long-standing borrow pits.
Ecology: rare, on the decline.
BotanyHerb; small; forming patches on the ground.
Stem: leafy, sterile; branching and lying horizontal along the ground, rooting at intervals; sporing cone-bearing stems stand erect in July and August, a few centimeters tall.
Leaves: curving; green; narrow; sharply pointed; few mm long.
