Synonym: Dicentra spectabilis.
Name: Lamprocapnos spectabilis means "Spectacular sparkling smoke".
Chinese: Hébāo mǔdān, meaning Purse peony, Good luck purse; Our Lady in a boat.
Korean: Geum nang hwa, "Gold bag flower".
Japanese: Kemansō; Taitsurisō, "Sea bream fishing rod".
Clades: Fumarioideae; Papaveraceae.
Genus: 1 species.
Region: Northeast China, Korea; introduced into Northeast Asia, Siberia, Russia, Japan.
Habitat: shade-loving chasmophyte; in rock crevices; prefers moist and cool climate; grows in full sun, but requires some shade; at low altitudes.
Culture: Chinese and Korean New Year celebrations.
Ecology: aphids, slugs and snails feed on the leaves.
Use: ornamental.

Roots: brittle; easily damaged.
