Habitat: rainforests; hilly country or on ridges, rarely in the lowland; elevations from 1000 to 1600 metres.
Use: young shoots for food; wood.

Stem: 30 to 100 cm in diameter; heartwood ishoney-coloured wood, prettily marked by broad, with yellowish medullary rays.
