Botany: freshwater aquatic plant; (with three or four lobes in the calyx instead five; cleistogamous, self-pollinating using non-opening flowe ± 5 cm long, nearly sessile, grow along the stem in alternating pairs that resemble rabbit ears, smaller when emerging.
