Flowers: off-white to a creamy pink; flowers from October to February.
Fruits: from January to March.
Habitat: in deep, peaty, permanently moist soil; intolerant of hot weather; among tussocks and other megaherbs, rarely under low forest; most abundant at lower altitudes, from the coast up to the tops; intolerant of browsing animals.
