Botany
Herb; photoautotroph.
Stem: branched from the base, spreading; prostrate, almost creeping; thick; 7 to 12 cm long; naked underneath and ending in a rosette of leaves.
Leaves: spatulate; narrow; 3 to 5 cm long; thick ciliate; obtuse or subacute at the margins; with cartilaginous teeth; otherwise glabrous.
Inflorescence: scape; slender; simple, erect, 2 to 3 cm long; bearing 2 to 7 or more flowers.
Flowers: bracts leaf-like; but smaller, lanceolate or slightly spathulate. Calyx: 6-partite, segments lanceolate.
Corolla: violaceous; tubular-acampanulate; segments 6, united for 1/3 of their length.
