Region: east Asia, southern and eastern China, Laos, north Vietnam.
Habitat: open forests, on mountains, along alpine gullies; soil fertile, well-drained; prefers a fertile moisture retentive soil, full sun or part day shade.
Use: medicinal; insecticide.
