Region: southeast Asia - Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam.
Habitat: lowland and hill forests; beach forest, river banks, roadsides, bamboo forest, shrubberies, secondary and primary forest; elevations from sea-level to 750 metres.
Use: medicinal; tying material, binding fences.
BotanyVigorous climbing shrub; shoots that can be 50 metres long and 10 cm in diameter; rarely a non-climbing shrub, drooping branches, very occasionally a small tree.
