Genus: 2 species.
Region: California, northern Mexico.
Botany: perennial subshrubs; woody stems, ± 2 meters; flowers white, with intense yellow centers, to 13 cm across; leaves silvery green, deeply cut, with a small fringe of hairs at the margins; warm, sunny spot, fertile soil, good water drainage; not easily grown but once established are difficult to remove, in burned areas.
