Synonym: Agaricus palmatus.
Clades: Physalacriaceae.

Region: circumboreal, eastern North America, northern Africa, Europe, Asia.
Habitat: growing on the stumps and logs of rotting hardwoods.
MycologyIdentification: pinkish color; distinctive ridged and veined surface of their rubbery caps; variations in color, size, shape, cap color.
TaxonomyRhodotus has been subject to dispute. It has been transferred variously to Amanitaceae, Entolomataceae, Tricholomataceae. More recently, molecular phylogenetics analysis has determined that Rhodotus is most closely related to genera in the Physalacriaceae.
