English: Chinese lantern; Lobed groundcherry; Purple groundcherry.
Taxonomy: close to Chamaesaracha.
Genus: monotypic.
Region: southwestern United States, northern Mexico.
Habitat: open, dry, disturbed areas.
Botany: perennial herb; stem ridged, spreading; leaves lance-shaped, to 7 centimeters long, smooth or lobed on the edges; flowers purple,with white deep in the throats, in leaf axils, to 2 centimeters wide, widely bell-shaped or flat-faced, five vague, pointed lobes, not drooping; sepals bell-shaped; fruit inflated, lantern like structure up to 2 centimeters long which contains the berry.
