Leaves: widely spaced, paired and opposite; oval or somewhat oblong; smooth-edged; up to 6 centimeters long by 2 wide. The upper ones lack petioles.
Inflorescence: a dense headlike cluster.
Flowers: bright pink to nearly white; upper and lower lobed lip under a centimeter in length and three protruding stamens tipped with purple anthers bearing yellow pollen.
