BotanyHerb; small; terrestrial; perennial, deciduous, sympodial; grows in colonies, of which few flower.
Leaves: bright green; heart-shaped or kidney-shaped, appears circular; 15 to 25 cm in diameter; with wavy edges, prominent radiating veins; one more or less circular leaf which emerges at the base of the flowering stem after flowering, including on those plants that did not flower.
Inflorescence: erect flowering stem 20 to 35 cm tall.
Flowers: pale green; 35 to 40 mm long, 30 to 35 mm wide; short-lived; sepals are 17 to 24 mm long, 2 mm wide; petals are similar but slightly shorter; labellum has three lobes and is cream-coloured or yellowish with hairy purple or green veins; side lobes curl inwards and the middle lobe has wavy edges and three hairy ridges; last up to four days; flowering from April and May in northern hemisphere, after heavy rain.
