Name: 3-methylcholanthrene; 20-methylcholanthrene; 3-methyl-1,2-dyhydrobenzo-j-aceanthrylene; 3-MC; MCA.
Chemistry: pale yellow solid crystals when crystallized from benzene and ether; melting point around 180 °C; boiling point is around 280 °C; alkylated derivative of benzanthracene; polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon produced by burning organic compounds at very high temperatures.
Use: studies of chemical carcinogenesis.
