Botany; habitat alpine, cold regions, tundra; perennial, grasslike clumps; stems thick, reddish ± 30 cm high;inflorescence an array of several clusters of brown bristle-tipped flowers; bracts and the sheaths surrounding the leaf bases are lined with hairs.
