Habitat: mountainous temperate forests.
Region: Northern Hemisphere, France, Portugal, Spain, North America, Central Europe.
Mycology: lichen; mostly on oak trees, also on deciduous trees, conifers, fir, pine; thalli short, ± 3 cm long, bushy, flat, strap-like, forming large clumps, highly branched, resembling deer antlers, green to greenish-white when dry, dark olive-green to yellow-green when wet, rough when dry, rubbery when wet.
Use: extensively in modern perfumery.
Aromatherapy: scent seems drenched with money energy, expands personal prosperity.
