Habitat: altitude of 800 m to 2500 m; sunny, well-drained soil; not below 12 °C.
Botany: arborescent, candle-like, tree-lile cactus, up to 5 m high in the wild, 1 m in culture; trunk diameter ± 10 cm in diameter, 20 to 25 ribs, flattened; covered with thorns and white hair, obscured by tissue woolly; white cover is due to long fuses back; looks like Cephalocereus.
