Habitat: humid evergreen primary to disturbed forest at low to medium altitude; on limestone, occasionally in long-abandoned rubber plantations.

Stem: with scattered nodes, condensed branches, bearing three or more leaves, inflorescences.
Leaves: coriaceous; almost sub-succulent; green to greyish; 20 cm; entire; base cordate; often fenestration.
