Name: Aeonium comes from Greek meaning eternal.
Region: Canary Islands, western Tenerife, La Palma, La Gomera.
Habitat: prefers full sun or partial shade; eroded volcanic soil.
BotanyHerb, small shrub; perennial; 10 cm tall.
Stems: branched.
Leaves: in small rosettes; thick; fleshy; oval or trowel shaped; young leaves are similar to Sedum; sticky; initially green, but soon form red stripes on them.
Inflorescence: little bundle of flowers.
Flowers: small, golden yellow; blooming from April to May.
