Region: Madeira, Porto Santo Island, Desertas Islands.
Habitat: on sea clifs; rocky peaks; sea level up to 700 metres.
BotanySubshrub; biennial or perennial; glandular-pubescent; ± 30 cm tall.
Stem: very short stem, hidden by the leaves, occasionally stoloniferous.
Leaves: rosette shaped; flat and plate-like; centrally dome-shaped; 30 cm diameter.
Inflorescence: loose, 30 by 45 cm; pedicels 3 to 19 mm long, distally curved; petals pale yellow and occasionally tinged with red, 7 to 10 mm long.
