Case 1: Woman, 40, nervous, fearful
She has abdominal complaints, pain and cramps with diarrhea. It is worse at night around 1 am, which aggravates her sleeplessness.
She is very unsure, shy, and timid. She works as a secretary and is afraid to go to the canteen as she does not know what to say to colleagues and fears that she will start blushing and sweating. She has a fear of people and especially crowds. At school, she was often bullied and teased. She was told that she was ugly.
At home, things were very unsafe. She was one of the youngest in a family of many children. Her mother and her sisters used to fight, and her father would beat the children unexpectedly. She was tormented and beaten by her brothers and when she tried to flee to her mother, her mother started beating her too. She felt worthless, left out, subordinated, alone, and unsafe. She was only good for doing the dirty jobs, cleaning the dishes and the toilets.
When she left home though, things got even worse. She felt totally unprotected when she was alone in her room. She started to have panic attacks with hyperventilation and all kinds of fears: of people, in the streets, shops, going out. She was hospitalized for a few months and later went into psychotherapy, which she followed for twenty years. She managed to get her life in order a bit, but always felt tense and nervous. She wanted to be able to take care of herself, to prove that she could stand the hardships of life.
She had a few relationships and had two children but the relationships did not last. She was too clinging on the one hand and too demanding on the other. She is often very irritated, cantankerous and snappy, scolding people close to her, such as her boyfriend and children. She finds life on her own very difficult.
She has many fears: storm, thunderstorm, trains, lifts, horses, animals, driving a car, causing an accident, men, sex, sexual assaults.
She dreams about disease, death, dead people, funerals, letting babies fall out of her hands.AnalysisThe basic problem is that she never felt safe in her life. Her parents did not provide safety or protect her against her siblings and strangers. It is a child problem. In a way, that is still how she feels, like a child needing comfort and protection. This indicates the Carbon series, series 2, which in the Plant theory brings us to Magnolianae:
3-622.00.00. Each number two here indicates the Carbon series.
She felt left out and subordinated: phase 6.
The stage, the last number of the code, is a reflection of the way one deals with the situation. It is often one of the first things we see of someone’s behavior. In her case, she wanted to ‘prove’ that she could stand the hardships of life. The desire to prove oneself is a stage 6 quality. A ‘life full of hardships’ is a phase 6 quality. The area that she does this in is in life itself, just remaining alive, a Carbon series quality.
Phase 6: dirty jobs, overlooked, left out, neglected, hardships, dropping babies
Carbon series: alone, unsafe, life, babies
She is sensitive to driving a car and being at sea, like the vertigo and fear of falling found in Boron. In phase 3 or subphase 3, we often see unsteadiness to the point of vertigo. In her case, we see seasickness and carsickness. The tendency to adapt and to please is an other confirmation for phase 3 or subphase 3.
This brings us to the code number 622.63.06, and to the remedy Piper hispidum.Follow upAfter Piper hispidum 30C, she feels much better. She had fewer fears and started driving her car again. She bought a new car. She started singing, even dared to sing solo. She dreams of getting married.CommentIn this case, there is neither a tendency to excitement nor an expression of boredom, though she does say that she feels unhappy with her life. With this combination and the knowledge we have of remedies from this order, we would usually expect a remedy from the Piperales. The Plant theory, however, shows that we can use wider concepts to find remedies within this order that are not yet known and do not have these specific qualities, and thus prescribe little known remedies with success.
